Alaska Photographic Center (APC) has canceled this year’s edition of Rarefied Light, our long-running statewide annual juried photo exhibition. We are pleased to announce that our 2020 juror Eddie Soloway (eddiesoloway.com) has agreed to join us next year as juror for Rarefied Light 2021. In the meantime, APC is keen to continue our commitment to support programs that provide opportunity and community to Alaska photographers. In this spirit, we invite you to submit work to a new exhibition for Alaska photographers in these uncertain times—Rarefied Lite 2020.
The goal of Rarefied Lite 2020 is to provide photographers with a forum—and a deadline—to participate in a statewide celebration of Alaska’s best fine-art photography from the comfort of your own home. We invite you to submit up to three original photographic works via the APC website (see details below). Photographs submitted will be curated into an online exhibition that will open in September with a live statewide review and discussion session moderated by a panel of notable Alaskan photographers.
There are no entry fees to participate in Rarefied Lite 2020, and APC membership is not required. Works exhibited in Rarefied Lite 2020 remain eligible for submission to Rarefied Light 2021. All work complying with eligibility and submission guidelines will be included in the online exhibition and statewide discussion.
Rarefied Lite 2020 is open to all photographers age 18 and older residing in Alaska (snowbirds welcome!). All photographically derived works are eligible. Work must be original and submitted by the originator or their agent. Recent work is preferred but not required.
- Limit of three (3) entries per photographer.
- Entries should be in JPG format, sRGB color space, and sized greater than 1200 pixels on the long edge. Maximum file size is 5MB.
- Format filenames as: “LastnameFirstname1”; “LastnameFirstname2”, etc
- Please submit your image(s) no later than July 31, 2020.
Thank you, we look forward to seeing your work in Rarefied Lite 2020!
