Photo Tuesday // Oscar Avellaneda-Cruz // March 21, 2017 7pm

Join us at 7pm on Tuesday March 21st, 2017 at the Anchorage Museum to welcome Oscar Avellaneda-Cruz as he walks us through his #cosplay project

CosPlay (costume play) is a performance art where participants adorn themselves with fashion wear that is often handmade, specific to a character. CosPlayers come together for public role-playing, costume competitions, and to reinterpret how they express their identity.

Community cartographer, Oscar Avellaneda-Cruz, has been exploring the Alaska CosPlay community for the last three years with various format cameras. He is fascinated with the Alaska CosPlay community’s fluidity of gender expression and the attention to detail in producing costumes.
