This month we are pleased to feature Mitch and Shalem Kitter as they talk about their Love is Love project.
Starting in 2012, Mitch and Shalem Kitter started the Love is Love Project in Anchorage, Alaska with a goal of photographing and sharing the stories of LGBT couples. Since then the project has grown to include over 33 states, 80 couples, and has been published in places such as Buzzfeed and Huffington Post. Through the project, Mitch and Shalem consult with their subjects to understand more about their relationship, and what makes the couple tick, then attempt to capture those special moments in photography.
They have compiled these images, and the stories shared by the couples in to a book released in June 2015. Lecture attendees will learn about the Kitters’ consultation and photographic process for couples, and see many of the beautiful stories they have captured.
