Emily Mesner is an Anchorage-based artist who uses photography, creative writing and bookmaking to explore our collective sense of place and culture, especially as it relates to northern landscapes and issues. Emily has worked for the National Park Service, Anchorage Daily News, The Cordova Times and The Jackson Citizen Patriot. In her personal work, Emily explores what it means to be rooted and reflects on the quiet rituals of return. She takes immense pride in showing what it means to be northern — honoring community and isolation.
