Please join us on 3/17 at 7pm for an artist talk by Tia Thompson via zoom and at Anchorage’s The Stoop, a new center designed to inspire, educate & equip lens-based artists, located at 301 E Fireweed.
Tia introduces themselves by saying:
I grew up in Bristol Bay, a place I’ve always admired for its beauty and remoteness. A place that’s endlessly photo worthy. That’s where my love of photography began. I’ve never taken a photography class or had any sort of formal art education, it’s simply something that brings me joy.
I work in Prudhoe Bay, a place that feels unforgiving and harsh most of the time. But exploring the arctic with my camera gets me through the long hitches up north.
